NATURAL HISTORY: THE BROOM CUPBOARD

The following outlines in brief, the philosophy behind my work, and the contents for an exhibition.

The themes I chose to explore address the way in which we order things within our minds. I have chosen to present this work in the form of a natural history collection due to an historic wealth of taxonomic theoretical confusion, and because of a precedent of natural history displays throughout the world.

The title ‘Natural History: The Broom cupboard’ refers to the storing of things that have no other obvious place to be kept, and therefore inhabit a cognitive ‘broom cupboard’.
